This seminar will explore trajectories for the production, delivery and consumption of entertainment and information over the next 5, 10 and 20 years, and will examine how technology, business and law can work together to foster the welfare of creators and consumers in these areas. Course readings will consist primarily of materials describing past, present and future information technologies and industry practices. In addition to class discussion of assigned readings, guided by industry leaders, the main work of the seminar will be conducted through cross-disciplinary teams of students examining the conditions for legal and institutional change in particular areas such as music, film, videogames, news and financial information.
Pre-requisites:
Law Students: Intro to IP, or Copyright, or Communications Law
Other Students: No pre-requisites or prior legal knowledge
